Update

I suppose it makes sense that, come blog entry 50, it’s time that some things get retooled.

As some of you know, I started blogging a year ago because I realized that, if I were going to one day get my medical memoir published, I needed to have a platform.

Those of you who are regular readers also know that, at the beginning of 2022, I had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Quale, one of the cofounders of Wise Ink Creative Publishing. She helped me work through some of my lingering questions regarding my manuscript, the most important of which was, how could my story be impactful for others? To address this issue, Amy suggested that I consider writing from the perspective of an adult who’s trying to process childhood (medical) trauma. I thought this idea was spot-on, as what I experienced as a child was unique, yet many people have to work through childhood trauma as an adult.

It was challenging to recraft my manuscript, which I had originally written in chronological order, yet my illness has taught me many things, one of which is perseverance. So off I went, rewriting and rewriting.

On July 26, 2022, I reached out to Amy again, and was ecstatic to learn that she and her team were interested in helping me take this book from its current draft to publication. As part of my package with WI, I get to work with their marketing team. Self-promotion makes me cringe, so I’m beyond relieved to have Hanna Kjeldbjerg and Crown Shepherd from WI guiding me through this process.

Hanna and Crown told me it’s time to up my game and get more active on Facebook and Instagram (sigh). Further, they suggested that my social media and websites have the same name. Thus, I have a new website: MeganLindahlGoodrich.com. (Eventually, I will work on converting my blog to this website.)

In addition, Hanna and Crown recommended that I group my blog entries according to topic. I sat on this for a while, and have decided to have the following categories: childhood illness, healthy living, joyful moments, and creative process.

That’s my update! Thanks for taking this journey with me!
